Affiliate Marketing Tips
A few people have asked me about why I am such a supporter of GrooveFunnels. Well besides it being an outstanding marketing platform it is also a great way to make passive income selling it as an affiliate marketing product.
So how did I get my sales when it comes to GrooveFunnels? I just want to kind of give you the main process to what I do. So basically what I’m going to do is I want to break down how I use social networking for affiliate marketing.
About 95 of my business comes through social networking, which means that I’m trying to run a 100 percent organic growth business to try to cut down on my ad spend but you’re, probably asking yourself like well, who are you? What do you do because I’ll be honest with you, I’m kind of new to the affiliate marketing game right. Pretty much all of my life I’ve been in sales in one form or another. Now, I’m also a digital designer and a digital marketer. So I have a background in sales and marketing, specifically my niche audience are small business owners now. So why did I choose small business owners? Well, because for years I have been an small business owner, so I know the business forwards and backward. So you’re, probably asking yourself like well: what’s your biggest marketing trick. So when it comes to marketing tricks I’ve got a whole bunch of them. But when it comes to marketing, honestly my biggest trick, the biggest piece of information, I can give you when it comes to your marketing or anybody’s marketing out there is just to understand people. Once you understand people and you understand exactly what they want, then you can give it to them. Okay, so just kind of keep that in mind as a marketer.
Obviously, I know I have to play this mental game when it comes to marketing and that is in anticipating what someones next move is going to be. I have to be aware of my surroundings, so there are always these little things that you have to be like hyper-aware of small business owners after being around them for so long. It just gave me a natural understanding of how to think and in anticipating their needs and possible objections. I never went to school for psychology or anything like that. I just kind of understand human behavior.
Okay, now for the meat of the blog. My top five tips on how to hopefully start making affiliate sales. I’ve only sold a couple of these affiliate products, and I hope I can continue to do it more because obviously, it’s pretty profitable and less work than working with clients.
- The first one is to know your skills. That means that you have a specific set of skills. What you can provide your people with right?
- Know Your Audience: You have to kind of figure out who is going to be your audience. Don’t try to go out there and be a generalist, be really laser-focused on something that you feel you’re the best at giving information to.
- Use groups to find them. So I’m really big into finding leads inside of groups, and I don’t go after them necessarily for the point of converting them. I really do try to give as much information as I can instead of poaching them and appearing spammy.
- So I try to deliver massive value. Delivering massive value basically means just that, I mean to give more than you take right, and so that means that whenever you’re inside these groups make sure that you’re really just dropping as much value as you can. I mean kind of look at what I’m doing right now, I’m giving you value with no obligations. I can give you this information, so i’m delivering a ton of value, i’m not asking for anything in return. So, therefore, I’m just like handing it out there right. So I’m helping my audience.
- I’m helping a group of people achieve a goal and my number one piece of advice is: don’t be salesy, okay, meaning don’t be pushy. You don’t wanna become known as that guy in the mall that shines rings? Okay, like you know the guy, I’m talking about you’re walking down the food court, you’re going to get shoes or whatever next thing you know he’s like. Oh, let me see that ring real quick and I hope there’s nobody out there that shines rings because I’d feel really really bad right now. So, but anyway don’t be pushy, don’t be salesy, you know let them find you, it’s called gravitational marketing or magnetic marketing. You want to put out so much great value that you’re positioning yourself to where people just want to work with you, because trust me, the more value you provide, the better you position yourself. The more attraction you put out the more people just want to gravitate and come towards you.
Dan Kennedy for those of you out there that do digital marketing is like the grandfather of modern marketing. He has a really great quote and it says “Be the welcome guest, not the annoying pest”, and what that means is that if you’re going to go out there and you’re going to try to help people, you don’t want to push yourself on them. You want to basically just become the attraction, you want to basically have people come towards you and ask you for help, and that means putting out content.
So what exactly worked for me, you’re, probably asking yourself and i’ll i’ll kind of tell you. I post in a few Facebook groups – and this is specifically for e-commerce people and drop shippers and that means a number of them need marketing help and help with sales promotions. What i do is i create content that serves my audience, so you can see here like a couple of years ago, in 2018, when i first joined these groups I started to become an authority figure. Without selling anything at all, I started having numerous people ask me to mentor them. Which I gladly did for a fee and for a testimonial. This just only helps add to my credibility. I leverage this to just help position. You know my expertise within the group also, I kind of piqued their interest in adding additional streams of income. So even though they’re small business owners there are also things I can do that I believe in that can help them while also make some passive income on the side by receiving some affiliate commission if they buy the tools I suggest that they use.
Another thing I’ve done is I’ve actually mentioned certain products in these Facebook groups but not in a salesy way. I wait for someone to ask for more information and then I provide them with more information and my affiliate product link. It’s really a soft sale. i’ve obviously positioned myself, and this is what you want, you want to have that, like I don’t want to call it dominance, but you want to have that. That perception you know, the perception is that you are the person to come to for the right answers. I know I am providing value but I’m also building trust, and this is very, very key. You want to make sure that you’re building trust and you’re creating more value. So as a result of this, what I also do is I am also responding to pleas for help. When someone needs help I reach out via Facebook Messenger to contact these people. Remember there it’s very gentle, so you don’t want to go out there and start blasting spam to people and just say: hey buy this you know, but because then they can, they can block you and then they can report you to Facebook. So you got to be very careful, so you kind of want to pre-qualify people and look for the people who are asking for help and helping them first and offer a solution that you can make passive income off of. With GrooveFunnels as an example someone might say that they don’t have a lot of money to build a website, well I show them Groovefunnels which is totally free to them. People may say that they want to find U.S. suppliers and I tell them about Salehoo. People may need help with Video Marketing and I tell them about Vidnami. People may need content for a blog and I tell them about Content Gorilla. People may need help with Google Advertising and I tell them about PPC Shortcut. They may need help with e-mail marketing or advertising and I tell them about Mailvio and Clickvio. These are all products I use on a regular basis and that I believe in and have expertise in. In fact, for Content Gorilla I liked the product so much that I bought the rights to rebrand it as my own software which I will be calling Content Ninja.
I might say something like “that there is a platform you might like that can solve your problem, would you want to learn something about it?” With GrooveFunnels I might say something like “I know a software platform that you can sign up for a free account to help you build a website or you can upgrade to a lifetime premium account and get all these extra features with unlimited websites. It’s called GrooveFunnels if you get a chance sign up for your free account and just check them out.” For the people signing up for a free account, about 10% of them will upgrade to a paid plan because they see the value it has. I might follow up with something like for over six or seven years now – this is probably the best platform i’ve ever seen – that does everything in one place and the reason I do this is because a lot of people out there that come to me for help. You know teach a man to to fish and he’ll he can feed his family for a lifetime. So if i can provide him value, there are a couple different things: that’s going to happen, they’re either going to go ahead and sign up and they’re going to build their website and they’re going to be really proud of themselves. They’re going to thank me or they’re going to go ahead and get to a point to where they’re like i can’t do this, you know i need help and they’re gonna ask me to help them and they’re going to pay me for my time to do that right. So it’s kind of a win-win for me either way now.
What’s cool is that, as you start doing this, as you start doing all this stuff, like you’re dripping content, you know you’re giving them the link to your your affiliate site and you’re just gently pushing them over to get a free account, you’re going to start seeing a lot of these right, I’m sure most of you have seen these or want to see them-you get an email saying “Hey, congrats! You got a new referral as an affiliate”, and so that’s awesome, because that means people are interested right. So they’re coming into your funnel they’re showing that they have an interest, and then you have to be patient. I cannot stress this enough. You cannot think that affiliate marketing is an instant overnight success thing right, because your people are very picky about what they do with their money right now. Now is a time where families are hurting. You know they’re really having to pick and choose where they’re spending money at and just in general, but by knowing more and more people want to make money online you just have to have patience. I’ll tell you right now and even though I’m not an affiliate marketer. Well, i guess now I am, but I’ve never done affiliate marketing before last year. I already know that you have to be patient. I know this because I’ve been in digital marketing forever. I’ve seen affiliate marketing, I’ve never pursued it, but I know that you have to have patience. You have to it’s like watching a plant grow. You know you just can’t put water on and watch it grow, you know so you have to have to be patient and just take your time and just continue to nurture and nurture and help serve all those people. Okay. So the result is: is that after you’ve done that bam? Look at that you get a sale right. When you get a sale I’m not going to lie. It feels good. You know to be able to do this, to be able to not to actually have to do any like actual work, but just talk to people and tell them hey “You know here’s what I did, and this is what you can do, and here’s a tip that I’ve done before so I’m not actually having to spend 10-20 hours in front of my computer doing the work. I’ve already done it, I’m just telling them what I did to help make that happen. Does that make sense? So anyway, there you have it uh, there’s a sale right there boom and uh. If I can just offer you any bit of advice, it is just that you can do this, you can actually do this. You can go out there and you can follow these steps that I showed you, just be patient, find your niche find out who your people are, what you want to offer them, how to build their trust and position yourself, and I promise that you can do it.
