SEO is also one of the only online marketing channels that when set up correctly, can continue to provide your website targeted traffic which can pay dividends over time.
SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It’s the practice of increasing both the quality and quantity of your website traffic, as well as to promoting your brand, through non-paid (also known as “organic”) search engine results.
Understanding how to create pages optimized for Search Engines can be challenging. That’s why, while it’s important to have a strong understanding of the tools we discuss below.
Your sales and revenue depend on you getting more customers. Your income depends on your sales. There are a lot of SEO tools, so which should you choose?
5 SEO Tools to Boost Your Website Traffic

1. Ahrefs

It is considered one of the the best SEO tools around, Ahrefs is a comprehensive SEO platform. Ahrefs is a multinational team headquartered in Singapore.
We really like it’s Site Explorer. When you enter a competitor’s URL, you get search traffic and backlink reports. This helps to know what you must do to get ranked higher.
You can also use Ahrefs for rank tracking, backlink analysis, and do keyword research.

2. Google Keywords Everywhere

You can’t optimize your website without knowing what your customers are searching for. How do you figure this out? The best starting point is to use common sense but using a Keyword tool can make things so much easier and also provide you with keywords you may not have thought about using.
Imagine that you run a brewpub in Huntington Beach. It doesn’t take an SEO genius to guess that your customers are probably searching for things like Microbreweries or Craft Beer in Huntington Beach. But what if you can also find customers who may be searching for the Best IPA in Southern California or Best Garlic Fries in Huntington Beach.
With Google Keywords Everywhere after entering your keyword, you’re shown the monthly search volume, Cost Per Click for paid advertising, and Keyword Difficulty. This tool is extremely affordable. With Google Keywords Everywhere you pay a fee up front and credits are deducted as you search.

3. Ubersuggest

Another one we like that is similar is Neil Patel’s Ubersuggest. Ubersuggest has a Google Chrome Extension. With Ubersuggest you pay $29 a month.

4. Moz

One of the best features of Moz is their Domain Ranking metric. Domain Authority is a numerical indication of your website’s quality.
With a Moz account, you can see the Domain Authority of your own website and any website on the internet. You can also use Moz to conduct a site audit, rank tracking, backlink analysis, and do keyword research.

5. SEMrush

We are SEMrush certified so we know this tool pretty well. At Semrush, you will get the same features as MOZ and Ahrefs.
However, my favorite feature of SEMrush is the content template. When you enter your keyword ideas, you get helpful content suggestions. Content marketing is the art of creating useful and valuable content to attract your target customers or clients. But don’t just start a blog and hope for the best—figure out what topics are popular and engaging in your niche and create content related to said topics
For instance, you can check out the top ranked content. Based on your competition for the keyword, SEMrush suggests content you should enter into your post to help achieve higher ranking. SEMrush provides one of the quickest and most reliable methods to understand the most popular and engaging in a given niche.

SEO tools conclusion

Many of these tools are very similar. SEMrush, Ahrefs and Moz all have similar pricing. Between those three we like SEMrush the best because of their online tutorials but it really boils down to personal preference. With the Keyword tools both are good but we find Google Keywords Everywhere to be a little bit more affordable.

Google also shifted to mobile-first indexing in 2018, meaning that they now use the mobile version of your page for indexing and ranking. It is one of the reasons we like using GroovePages because they are the only major platform that builds websites with Mobile First Indexing included.

How does a search engine work?

Search engines are like libraries for the digital age.
Search engines are basically nothing more than a answering machine. They scour billions of pieces of content on the internet and evaluate hundreds of factors to determine which content is most likely to answer your search query.
Search engines like Google do all of this by discovering and cataloging all available content on the Internet (web pages, PDFs, images, videos, etc.) via a process known as “crawling and indexing,” and then ordering it by how well it matches the query in a process we refer to as “search engine ranking.”

Should I hire an SEO professional?

Depending on your time, willingness to learn, and the complexity of your website(s), you could perform some basic SEO yourself. Or, you might discover that you would prefer the help of an SEO expert. If you end up deciding you need expert help, it’s important to know that many agencies and consultants “provide SEO services,” but can vary widely in quality. Knowing how to choose a good SEO company can save you a lot of time and money, as the wrong SEO techniques can actually harm your site more than they will help. At Digital Papercuts we only follow White Hat SEO techniques.

What is White Hat and Black Hat SEO?

“White Hat SEO” refers to SEO techniques, practices, and strategies that abide by search engine rules.
“Black Hat SEO” refers to techniques and strategies that attempt to fool search engines. While it can be said that even White Hat SEO attempts to fool the search engines it is done via less spammy ways. While Black Hat SEO can work, it puts websites at tremendous risk of being penalized and/or de-indexed
