The BBQ Song
For the past 24 hours I have been talking about North Carolina Barbecue and it got me thinking about this song.
They’re Made Out Of Meat
I don’t have anything to say about this video other than it’s amusing and weird. Hat tip to Lisa.
Top 10 Geekiest Music Videos
Gizmodo ran a story with the 10 geekiest music videos, and it’s a big laugh to watch some of these. I am an MTV kid and I remember when “Music Television” actually showed videos. Some of these are from the golden age of music videos (the 1980s), but the one I chose to represent this list is recent. I was not familiar with this Weird Al song, and don’t even know if it is a parody or an original track, but I think it is really funny. Maybe I relate a little too much to it.
New DEVO Music Video
“DON’T SHOOT” – DEVO from DEVO Channel on Vimeo.
What the iconic new wave, art punk pioneers cautioned us about almost 30 years ago is no longer a humorous theory. It’s pretty much fact–we now live in a devolved world that’s getting wackier each and every day.
According to their website, DEVO is working on a new album with a fall release. They performed at SXSW conference in Austin, TX last month and are set to perform in England next month. The song and video are quintessential DEVO.
Everyone Poops Trailer
A trailer parody for a new adaption of another 10-page children’s book by director Spike Jonez, the man behind the new Where the Wild Things Are movie.
Reinterpretation of Red Riding Hood
I found this cool video on Vimeo, my preferred video sharing site. Sure, the views are higher on YouTube, but the videos are cooler on Vimeo and the quality is better. This video tells the story of Red Riding Hood through the use of animated information graphics. The connections and the flow of the graphics work well together, plus some of them are funny, like the nutritional information about Grandma.
The Only Riverdance that Matters
Today at a morning St Patty’s Day party we found ourselves watching youtube videos. After watching a particularly long and painful Riverdance video, the below video came up as a relevant video we might enjoy. So enjoy!
NYT Withdraws Support for Doc Festival
One of the leading documentary film festival, Durham’s Full Frame loses one of its presenting sponsors. According to the Independent Weekly’s blog, The Triangulator, “The New York Times, which has provided sponsorship support for the 12-year-old festival since 2001, has withdrawn its commitment, the festival announced today, less than three weeks away from the start of this year’s event, which is scheduled for April 2-5 in Durham.”
The sponsorship consisted mainly of a full page ad in the Times, so the festival will not have the promotional boost of the paper’s readers learning about the festival in print.
Everybody Needs a Ninja
Indie artist Matthew Ebel was recently contacted by a filmmaker wanting to use his song in a music video. He agreed and the above video is the result. Check out more from Dead Star Film at YouTube.com/deadstarfilm.

Denver’s 150-year old newspaper has been shut down by its parent company. A sign of the flagging economy, growth of the internet, or just a bad business decision?
