What Was Happening on Your Street

Here’s a site called StreetWithAView.com that shows an artist intervention with the Google Street View camera crew. Embedded in the site is a Google Map in street view mode showing the different scenes that were staged as the cameras drove by. There are also photos and videos on the site documenting the project.
One Year in 40 Seconds
One year in 40 seconds from Eirik Solheim on Vimeo.
This short video from Eirik Solheim is made from a series of images shot from the same spot over the course of one year. He used some pretty cool tools in Photoshop to align the shots and make it work. He also recorded audio throughout the year. All details on how this video was made are on his website at eirikso.com.

No Talking at the Movies
While I don’t condone carrying concealed weapons into a movie theater, people do need to be quiet during a film.
From CNN:
A man angry that a family was talking during a movie threw popcorn at the son and then shot the father in the arm, according to police in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.James Joseph Cialella, 29, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons violations, a police report said.
Cialella told the family sitting in front of him in the theater on Christmas Day to be quiet, police said.
An argument ensued while others at the Riverview Movie Theatre watched “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, according to Philly.com.
Cialella, 29, then approached the family from the left side of the aisle and shot the father, who was not identified, as he was standing between Cialella and his family, according to the police report.
The victim was taken to Jefferson Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left arm, police said.
Cialella was carrying a Kel-Tec .380-caliber handgun clipped inside his sweatpants, police said. He was arrested and taken into custody.
New Hope Waterfowl Waterway
Yesterday I went to the Durham side of the New Hope Waterfowl Waterway. These are areas that were created to maintain bird habitats by adjusting water flood levels. When I got there the sky was pretty overcast, but the clouds moved out as I was shooting, so I got some great blue skies. I also got some great reflections.

Rock Band Christmas, But Not at My House

The kids are showing off their Rock Band instruments that go with their new Xbox. Thanksfully, Santa knew enough to bring it to their mom’s house, rather than mine.

Merry Christmas from Durham
This morning I helped serve breakfast at the Urban Ministries Community Kitchen in downtown Durham. Christmas morning seemed like a good time to think of others and help out. Afterwards I took some pictures around downtown Durham. Here’s a link to the rest of the photos on Flickr.
Peter is All Linked Up
I got the kids their own computer for Hanukkah, so they would stop asking to use mine. I decided on a netbook, mainly due to size and price, and it is still a real computer. We are dealing with some screen size/resolution issues, as many kids’ programs run at different resolution, and many websites control the window size of their flash modules.
