Scorcese Channels Hitchcock
Here’s a link to a short film Martin Scorcese made for Spanish sparkling wine, Freixenet. Here’s a blog post explaining the background of the piece.
A definite must watch for Scorcese and Hitchcock fans.
Triangle Social Media Club
Last night I went to a meeting of the Triangle Social Media Club, hosted by Calvert Holdings in Cary. It was an informal event with about 15 people in attendance. Lee White led a discussion on Social Media inside the corporate enterprise, but there wasn’t anyone who worked in a large environment. This made the discussion theoretical, rather than practical. I, and others, related this to our clients, but more as a talking point instead of a plan of action.
It was a good networking event, due to its size and location. I saw Twitter friends Wayne Sutton and Teri Saylor. I also connected with the following local Twitterati: Lee White, Dave Johnson, Mark Hinkle, Nathan Gilliatt, Brian Chappell, Jeff Tippett. And finally, I chatted with Lisa Creech Bledsoe, who is not yet on Twitter, but has a blog.

Hollywood Production Designer
As we count down to the Oscar’s, here’s an article from the NY Times about the Production Designer for There Will be Blood, the only Best Picture movie I haven’t seen. He has a long history working Hollywood auteurs and has some interesting methods. He builds period buildings in the manner that it would’ve been done in the period (method building).

Lunar Eclipse (Sort of)
Tonight’s lunar eclipse was very cool. I was outside with my camera, and I was talking to one of my neighbors. He asked me if I was taking pictures of the eclipse. I said, No, I don’t have a telephoto lens and it’s really too dark. After he walked away, I took a picture just for fun. The shutter was open for a long time. I looked at the picture and it wasn’t bad. Blurry, but had a little bit of the moon.
I got my tripod and tried again. As you can see above, the picture is clear, but the moon is far away. It definitely is not sharp when you zoom in, but is a neat picture just the same. I like the stars and the color of the clouds.
I posted this as an 800 pixel wide photo, since I now have a wider monitor. Previously, all my photos were 500 pixels.
Is Someone Shooting at Me?
I was driving back from Cary tonight on I-40, and all of a sudden my rear passenger side window imploded (or as I said on Twitter, exploded inward, which sounds more dramatic). It scared me because I had no idea what happened. There was no one in front of me at the time, but there was a van along side of me. My first thought, coming from my cinema-induced, over-active imagination was that someone in the van was shooting at me. I did my best to try to avoid driving near the van, but in my paranoid state, I lost track of it pretty quickly.
I drove straight to a hardware store to pick up plastic and duct tape to cover my gaping hole, as seen above. The plastic and duct tape are the first steps down the path of converting my 12 year car into a white trash mobile.
I never thought to call 911 or anything like that. I guess you would do that after the second shot. I have no idea what really happened. I can only assume it was a rock or some type of road debris, unless I find a bullet in the back seat when I clean out the glass.
Final Basketball Game
Above is Peter’s team photo (while Peter still had his cast on). Peter got his cast off in time to attend his last practice and play in his last game. His final stats: 4 shot, 2 rebs, 1 steal, 4 pts and the team won 34-7.
For any Twitter followers, I did post quarterly stats during the game.
Shopping Fun
We went to the grocery store and the kids convinced me to buy them overpriced toys. Peter got a little pinkie ball and Grace got a make your own balloon animal kit. So far she has made several snakes and a balloon hat.
